a ban on an innovative telemedicine abortion used in Iowa could put women's health at risk when it takes a family planning lawyer argued before the court Monday. Iowa Board of medicine members who approved the ban cited security concerns, such as pills given to women without a doctor present. But the ban would deprive the system fast and safe opportunity for women in rural areas to get the abortion pill by forcing them to go to Des Moines and Iowa City, said Alice Clapman, an attorney for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland during a hearing in Polk County District Court Monday (Rogers and Leys, 6/17).
