Regenstrief joins the evidence and analysis of the real world consortium ConvergeHEALTH -
ConvergeHEALTH by Deloitte and the Regenstrief Institute, Inc. announced that Regenstrief, a computer and internationally renowned healthcare research organization, has become a member of evidence and analysis of the real world ConvergeHEALTH consortium.
Regenstrief joined Intermountain Healthcare and Moffitt Cancer Center / M2gen through a rapid learning network established by ConvergeHEALTH to support the team of healthcare industry towards a system based on value, with personalized medicines. Among the potential benefits of collaboration will help life sciences manufacturers and academic institutions to more effectively identify potential evidence in reducing the time required to conduct retrospective analyzes and prospective research related to comparative effectiveness and drug safety. Regenstrief brings over 40 years of detailed clinical data that ConvergeHEALTH visualization tools can query with a few mouse clicks. Other studies can be simplified through better identification of underserved populations, predict the effectiveness and identify the right patients for deeper studies.
"Our center of biomedical informatics has one of the most important ensembles and most diverse patient longitudinal data today," said William M. Tierney, MD Chairman and CEO of Regenstrief Institute and associate dean for research in clinical efficacy at the medical school of the University of Indiana. "For centuries, health care providers have learned occasional observations of their patients. We are pleased to team with Deloitte to advance our goal of creating a fast-learning environment for rigorous research. The OutcomesMiner ConvergeHEALTH platform, combined with our unique longitudinal data and research capabilities, will help life sciences manufacturers and other private employees, public and academic studies to accelerate and eventually create therapies more effective. "
Taking advantage of electronic medical records and other health data, OutcomesMiner helps users explore the real world results for subpopulations of interest. The fast-learning network also allows ConvergeHEALTH staff to follow up on retrospective and prospective studies with members of the consortium to develop new evidence to support research on comparative effectiveness, product planning, economic health and the results of research ideas and observation that support the analysis of security and business decision. -Make

Regenstrief Institute project director Michael D. Murray, PharmD, MPH, described the ability to better analyze and visualize large healthcare data using the tools offered by portfolio ConvergeHEALTH as "an excellent way to speed efforts of the Institute of comparative effectiveness research and drug safety. " Dr. Murray is a Regenstrief investigator and distinguished professor and chair of the safety of medicines at Purdue University.
Biomedical Informatics Centre for the Institute developed one of the first systems of electronic medical records in the nation, one of the leading IT providers in the country order entry systems and the first and the most complete exchange of information on the health of the country, making Indiana one of the most wired health states in the country and a model for the exchange of health data. In April 06, Rand Corp. identified Regenstrief Medical Informatics Institute as a pioneer healthcare information internationally recognized one of the four leading institutions that have produced nearly 25 percent of all the high quality research published on the impact of technologies information on the quality of health.
