Team Type 1 Foundation provides scholarships to student athletes with type 1 diabetes -
The Team Type 1 Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a global mission education, empowerment and equal access to medicines for all people affected by diabetes, will award $ 5,000 scholarships to seven student-athletes for the 2014-15 school year as part of the first " global Ambassador program "Foundation recognizes young, talented athletes with type 1 diabetes who use their sport as an inspiring platform. The Foundation will also fund additional scholarships of $ 1,000 to study 11 candidates standout winner Distinction Award.
A gala evening celebrating the program and its first group of scholarship recipients will be held on June 6 of e to Atlanta at King Plow Arts Center, 887 West Marietta St., NW, Atlanta GA 30318.
Program global Ambassador is the first major initiative of the United States and the Foundation was created to help student athletes and their families offset the cost of diabetes care, which can mean an extra $ 300- $ 500 per month. It also serves as a vehicle to unite athletes with diabetes and increase their visibility within the diabetes community. Athletes selected will be included in the Foundation's outreach and participate in many diabetes camps, clinics and educational events throughout the year.
