New educational programs aimed at integrating genetics and genomics in medicine -
The American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) and The Jackson Laboratory (JAX ) today announced a formal partnership under which the two organizations will produce and deliver high quality educational programs to integrate genetic and genomic advances in health care.

"to keep pace with new developments and incorporate them into clinical practice, JAX ASHG and develop educational programs for groups such as students and trainees, primary care and . other physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and social workers "
ASHG and JAX share a working history - both independently and together - to promote the education of the genetics. note, ASHG members and JAX professors jointly organized and taught one to two weeks, "Short Course on Medical and Experimental Mammalian genetics' annual Bar Harbor for over 50 years. with this new collaboration, JAX ASHG will further coordinate their educational activities and developing complementary programs and avoid duplication of resources.

Knott Professor and director of the Medical Genetics Institute at the Faculty of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, welcomed the new collaboration. The first joint educational program JAX-ASHG aim to educate primary care physicians about cancer genetic tests. The program is scheduled for launch in November 2014 and the new Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut.
